I posted a donation to the wrong donor, is there any way to change it?
CRA regulations do not allow any changes to be made to receipts. What you need to do here is enter another donation for the “wrong” donor, using the same date and everything but with a minus amount (if the original donation was 100.00, make this one -100.00). Then post the donation. When it has been posted, you should then print a receipt for it (which will say -100.00 as long as there are no other donations from that donor waiting to be receipted). Then you can enter the donation to the right donor and proceed as usual. (Note: If you catch the error before the receipts are printed (but after posting), then you will only need to post the minus amount donation batch before you can proceed as usual).
It is not possible to edit a batch that has already been posted. You will need to put corrections in a different batch, preferably one you create just for that correction. Also, all donations in any one batch will all bear the same date, so if your corrections need to have more than one date, you will need more than one batch.
