Memorizing Scopes & Running Saved Queries

Memorizing Scopes & Running Saved Queries

Memorize a Scope

If you have a filter in place, or have tagged a list of names and wish to save that list for future use, you may want to memorize your current scope. To do this:

  1. Click the "Filter" button (it looks like a green funnel).
    • If you used "Tags" then Silent Partner will ask you if you wish to "Set Filter to Tagged Names"; click OK, then press the Filter button again.
  2. Now click on the "Memorize scope..." button
  3. Give the scope a "code" up to 10 characters long, then you can type out a longer description of what the scope is below
    • (You are also able to import a scope using the "Import from text file" in the line below)
  4. Then click OK
  5. You can Restore this scope at any time using the "Restore scope..." button on the Filter window.

Run a Saved Query

  1. Press the "Filter" button (Or Edit → Filters & Queries → Create Filter)
  2. Ensure you are in the correct table and subsection – based on where the query is saved and what it is searching for
    • Tab 1 - Donor Table allows you to query information about the donor or mailings
    • Tab 2 - Other Tables is generally for queries that involve donations
  3. Press the "Query..." button
  4. Search for the appropriate query
    • Tip: Ensure the Saved queries column header is highlighted (double-click on it if it's not) THEN type in the query name you’re looking for
  5. Once you've found the query you’re looking for, highlight it and click the "Run query" button
  6. Silent Partner will automatically search for the criteria the query requests and the results will be presented in the donor data screen
