Stripe Payment Failed – Connect Account Cannot Make Live Charges

Stripe Payment Failed – Connect Account Cannot Make Live Charges

What the Error Means

When attempting to process a donation, a donor may see an error message like this:

Stripe Payment failed
Error: Form submission failed
Detail: This Connect account cannot currently make live charges. The requirements.disabled_reason property on the account will provide information about why this account is currently disabled. If you are a customer trying to make a purchase, please contact the owner of this site. Your transaction has not been processed.

This error occurs because your connected Stripe account is not fully enabled to accept live payments. Stripe requires that certain account verification steps (such as identity checks, business details, or bank information) are completed before live charges can be processed.

How to Fix It

  1. Log in to your Stripe Dashboard
    Go to the following link:
    Stripe Account Verification Page
  2. Check for Required Information
  3. Stripe will list any missing details under Account Verification. Common items include:

    • Business details (e.g., business name, EIN, legal entity type)

    • Identity documents (e.g., government-issued ID for account owner)

    • Bank account or payout details

  4. Submit the Required Documents
Upload or provide the requested information. Stripe usually reviews submissions within minutes to a few business days.

  5. Confirm Account Status
Once your account is fully verified, the error will no longer appear, and your Glass Register donation form will be able to process live charges successfully.
